June 2020 looks a little bit different than most people anticipated. Instead of gathering with friends for picnics in the park, putting on our best outfits for a night on the town or hitting up local restaurants for a mouthwatering brunch, a lot of us are still stuck inside. However, just because we can’t leave our houses doesn’t mean we can’t find ways to make the most of our time indoors. While a lot of us would prefer to parade around in a bikini at the beach or a midi skirt at the mall, there are still so many ways to feel poised and put together during this quarantine. Here are six beauty and fashion trends that you will be seeing a lot this month and how to make them your own.
1. Cozy Loungewear
Fashion while staying at home is all about comfort. From stylish sweat suits and biker shorts to oversized hoodies and leggings, loungewear is having a moment. Celebrities, influencers and models from around the globe are living proof that comfy clothes can look incredibly high-end. Whether Kylie Jenner is playing with Stormi in a pair of fuzzy Skims or Emily Ratajkowski is walking her dog in a crop top and biker shorts, lounge clothes look incredible no matter what the occasion. To rock this trend, all you need to do is pick out a matching set, throw your hair in a low bun, add some gold jewelry and slip on some chunky sneakers.
2. Bangs
Bangs are coming back in a big way. Maybe it's just because everyone got bored during quarantine and decided DIY bangs were the best option, but either way—we’re here for it! Whether they’re blunt, side swept or wispy, this haircut is incredibly versatile and can be pulled off by just about anyone. If you’re wanting to take the plunge and switch up your look with a new cut, follow this general rule of thumb: wispy fringe bangs for heart-shaped faces, heavy blunt bangs for long-shaped faces, short fringe bangs for square-shaped faces or any type of bangs for oval-shaped faces. Check out some of our favorite bangs inspo down below!
3. Natural Makeup
While “barely there” makeup is hardly a new concept for most makeup artists, a lot of other people have started to perfect the art of flaunting a fresh face. Fluffy eyebrows, dewy skin and glossy lips are all characteristic of one of the hottest beauty trends right now and for good reason. Influencers, TikTokers and YouTubers alike are showing us exactly how to achieve a luminous glow by sharing their favorite products, techniques and tricks. Whether it's using bar soap and a spoolie to pull off the perfect brow or applying translucent powder before foundation to achieve flawless skin, there are so many ways to perfect this look. Try adding a few of these products to your routine and see what happens!
4. Neutral Tones
Because natural makeup is currently all the rage, it only makes sense to pair a fresh, dewy face with subdued, neutral colors. White, tan, black, you name it—these colors look absolutely incredible on any skin tone and complement minimal makeup so well. Whether you’re rocking chic black denim or a comfy white sweater, a neutral color palette is the perfect way to take your style to the next level. Want to go even further? Try out a monochrome look by dressing head to toe in one single color. Feel free to vary shades slightly, like pairing white with cream, but try not to overdo it! Here is some inspiration to get you started.
5. Golden Hoops
What better way to dress up an outfit than with a little bit of jewelry? With neutral colors and natural makeup surging in popularity, a dainty pair of golden hoops is the perfect way to pull an entire look together. Whether you’re wearing a sweatsuit or jeans, something as simple as a pair of earrings can completely elevate your appearance and make you seem a lot more put together. Even if you’re on a budget, there are so many stores that carry high quality pieces for amazing prices. A few of our favorite places include Madewell, Etsy, ASOS, Kendra Scott and Princess Polly.
6. Claw Clips
With most of us stuck inside, it’s safe to say that a lot of our heat tools aren’t seeing any action. While this is probably a blessing in disguise, we bet a lot of you miss styling your hair. However, just because we aren’t using hair dryers, flat irons and curling wands as often doesn’t mean our hair can’t look incredible. That’s where claw clips come in. Claw clips are the perfect way to keep your natural hair out of your face while looking incredibly chic at the same time. Pair it with sheer lip gloss, golden jewelry and a neutral outfit, and you’ve got yourself the ultimate quarantine fit.
Even though being housebound is less than ideal, you can still find ways to make yourself feel confident and beautiful. While it is more than okay to use this time to go bare-faced in your pajamas, it can be fun to play around with new trends and see how they work for you. Whether you choose to try out one or all of these beauty and fashion trends, make sure you’re doing it because you want to. Good luck and stay safe!
