Finding beauty brands that you like, are free of toxic chemicals, don’t test on animals, are ethical, AND have makeup that is good for your skin can feel nearly impossible. Oh, and do not forget they need to be in your price range too. Makeup stores like Sephora have gotten better at differentiating clean beauty brands from the rest, but that is only the first step in finding what works for you.
You probably have seen this brand at your local Target. It was created by Jessica Alba and is 100% cruelty-free, plant-derived, toxicologist-audited, and dermatologist tested. The majority of makeup from Honest ranges from $8.99 to $23.99, and there are many sales, discount codes, and promotions making these prices even more appealing.
I was first introduced to Thrive Causemetics when I received their mascara in my Ipsy subscription bag, and I was not disappointed. Although this brand is on the more expensive side, with makeup starting at $16, it is worth every penny. Thrive Causemetics offers many sales and discounts, and a lot of their money is used to support foundations like Black Women’s Health Imperative and the Foundation for Women Warriors.
If you are looking for clean makeup designed for sensitive skin, then Tower 28 is for you. Not only is the packaging to die for, but all of the products also are clean, non-irritating, and contain no animal by-products. For those hypersensitive to gluten, yes, it is gluten-free as well. They have a small selection of products as of right now that range from $12-$20 and can be found on their website, Revolve, and Sephora.
After learning about all of the harmful ingredients found in most makeup, two friends started PYT beauty to create a line of clean, cruelty-free, and vegan products that were good for the environment. All of their packaging is sustainable by utilizing plastic that is recycled, pre-degraded, and sugarcane-based. All of their products range between $14 and $28.
